New books chart history of Spondon school

The latest two new books in the Spondon Archive series are released on Saturday 22nd November and chart the history of Spondon School in two parts.

The new books, priced £2.50 each, will be available for the first time on that day, both at the Treetops Christmas Market being held at the Village Hall in the morning and also during Spondon Alight.

Saturday 22nd also sees the launch of the refreshed Spondon History Trail, when the new history trail posters will be officially unveiled. This will be performed by Trent Barton’s Mr Mango, as the posters have been partially funded by the company. Everybody is welcome to come along. The rest of the funding has been provided by Spondon Archive, the collaboration between the Historical Society and the Village Improvement Committee. Missing plaques along the trail have been replaced.

Spondon Archive is a joint venture between the Village Improvement Committee and Spondon Historical Society. It aims to publish a series of booklets about Spondon past and present. Some will be original material, others will be re-publication of existing documents with an objective of making them available to a wider audience. The new books are the 7th and 8th in the series.
