Free NHS Health checks with Livewell

Livewell, the healthy lifestyle service run by Derby City Council has this month launched FREE community based NHS Health Checks for people aged 40 to 74.

These 30 minute appointments, held at libraries and leisure centres across the city, check things like BMI, weight, blood pressure and cholesterol and assess the risk of heart disease. Helpful advice is provided to help people lower their risks which could include joining Livewell’s healthy lifestyle service.

The service has a simple and easy online application and booking system which can be found here.

Livewell is a healthy lifestyle service for people registered to a doctor in Derby. It offers free 12-month programmes to help adults and children improve their health and wellbeing.

The project started as a weight loss pilot in 2011 run by Derby City Council and funded by NHS Derby City. Since then it has become a successful and much wider service, funded through Public Health. As well as weight management it now incorporates a variety of different programmes including healthy pregnancy, stop smoking, child weight management/Live IT and men’s health.
