The Prince of Wales will be visiting Bluebells in Spondon this coming Friday, February 18th.
The Prince will be making the visit to the Locko Road dairy in Spondon as part of his visit to Derbyshire. Following his visits to the JCB Academy and Crown Derby, he will be enjoying tea at Bluebells with owners, the Brown family.
The Prince of Wales met the Brown family at the ceremony for the BBC Radio 4 Food & Farming Awards in 2009. Bluebells were runners up in the Farmer of the Year category and the Prince of Wales expressed an interest in Bluebells.
The Brown family are third generation dairy farmers, having farmed at Brunswood Farm since 1953. In 2008 Bluebells began making ice cream from their own fresh farm milk. Bluebells Real Dairy Ice Cream is sold at Bluebells Café and Farm Shop and in an ever increasing number of specialist retailers, cafés, restaurants, hotels and venues.
Bluebells owner Rosemary Brown, pictured right with her family, expressed her delight at the visit. "We are all so pleased that The Prince of Wales is taking time out of his busy schedule to visit our farm, see our cows and experience the ice cream being made at Bluebells.
"Our family and team are all greatly looking forward to Friday February 18th. It will be a special and memorable day for us all."
