Are you interested in joining the Spondon Neighbourhood Board and having the opportunity to have a say in how and where money is spent in your neighbourhood?
Spondon Neighbourhood Board is made up of your three Spondon Councillors, local residents, community group representatives and representatives from public services such as the Police and Derby Homes. The Board meets on a regular basis to agree solutions to problems and to allocate funding to address its local priorities.
Spondon resident Nicola Roulstone is a current member of the Board and really enjoys being involved in the community. Nicola, pictured top-right, said: "I would encourage people from all generations to get involved with the neighbourhood board as it is a great opportunity to get involved in our local community and meet some fantastic people who share a mutual interest in continuing to make our village a vibrant, pleasant and safe place to live and work."
"As an active board member I have enjoyed working with the Local Councillors, Safer Spondon Police Team, Spondon Traders, Friends of Spondon Cemetery Group and other community groups.
"Since joining the board I have worked closely with the schools to organize the Spondon Alight competition each year which proved to be a great success. I've also had the privilege via the Spondon map game on Spondon Day to raise funds for Spondon Christmas Lights and Spondon Youth Clubs which was greatly received and not only help raised money but also help promote local businesses in the area who had generously donated gift vouchers."
Nicola is also pictured at the 2014 Christmas Lights Switch-On event in Spondon, with "Design a Christmas Light" competition winner Keira & Family, Pauline Latham MP & Cllr Williams.
